My first real quilt.

Having only starting sewing this year I don't have many quilts under my belt. So far I have made one shaggy quilt and 2 very plain quillows.

I have for the last 5 months been getting a Block of the Month (BOM) through a quilting shop in Victoria. While I still have 5 months left before I can finish it, I thought I would share what I have done.

I'm waiting for the ric-rac to be sent to finish block 4 and I still have to, with DMC thread, backstitch the words "Home is where the heart resides" on block 5 in the green below the house. The blocks each measure 20" x 20" and there will be a border around the outer edge.

This quilt has taught me colours, piecing and that it is not that hard to make stars! I'm having a ball and as time goes on I will post more pics. I just hope when it comes to quilting it, the sewing machine can handle the size of the finished quilt.

Deb this one is going to be a very beautiful quilt. One of these days, I would like to try a BOM myself. I just need to find the one to suit my personality.

Sorry Clare it won't be ready in time for your birthday. Afraid you miss out too Vicki. I get my last block at the end of April and then by the time I get it quilted.....well it will be the end of May at that stage. Sorry girls, I promise to think of you both everytime I look at it once finished :)
